What does Ouro Trace actually track?
Every handoff in a material’s lifecycle — from intake to transport to processing to final destination. Each event includes who handled it, what changed, when it happened, and supporting evidence (weights, media, documents, geolocation, etc.).
Do we need to use blockchain to use Trace?
No. The blockchain layer is optional. You can run the platform in “standard mode” (database-backed audit log) or “immutable mode” (anchored to a public chain for verification). Most early pilots start standard and upgrade later.
What counts as “evidence”?
Photo and video capture, scale weight logs, operator identity, timestamps, GPS, seal IDs, signatures, and a generated certificate.
Can Trace integrate with our existing systems?
Sometimes. Ouro supports API ingestion from ERPs, logistics platforms, scale systems, QR/RFID scanners, and IoT hardware. If you already collect chain-of-custody data, we can pipe it in rather than replace your workflow. However if this destroyes data quality we suggest you use our app.
What kinds of materials can be tracked?
Anything with a defined chain of custody: packaging waste, textiles, post-consumer plastics, e-waste, food waste, batteries, industrial scrap, etc. If it moves through multiple parties before its end-state, it’s a fit.
Can downstream partners upload data or do we have to do everything?

Does Trace help with Scope 3 or EPR reporting?
Yes. The platform captures weights, transport legs, and processing methods, so you can turn raw event data into emissions calculations, recovery rates, and regulatory reports (EPR, CSRD, SEC climate, etc.).
